Q&A with Conduit parent Marianne Bakia

In what ways has working with us changed your child's attitude towards learning?

My daughter really did a 180 degree turnaround after working with the great staff at Conduit. She went from being anxious and avoidant to engaged. Previously, she really didn't like school as it seemed pretty boring, and she had not seen much progress. However, she now realizes that she can apply what she learns to practical situations. She wants to know how to get answers to her questions. Teachers at Conduit did a great job of offering my daughter a learning toolkit that included use of a variety of technologies. She is off and running now.

How have the teachers at Conduit made a difference in your child's learning journey?

I am so thankful that we found the folks at Conduit when we did. We were feeling stuck about how to meet the learning needs of our daughter. Staff at Conduit were able to design a program with my specific child's specific needs. Amy was so great to work with. I don't want to think about how things would have turned out if we hadn't connected with her when we did.

How has the use of assistive technology improved your child's learning experience?

I think the use of technology for learning needs is under-rated. My daughter loves the independence that assistive technologies give her. Speech to text and text to speech allowed her to communicate through the written word in ways she could not before. She can research online much more effectively, and she can also use a range of software like canva and book creator independently.

What would you say to other families considering working with us?

Go for it! I'm so impressed by the programs they are able to put together!
